ARH announces appointment of new Vice President of Medical Affairs
Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) has named Pathologist Maria Braman, MD, Vice President of Medical Affairs for the ARH system.
Dr. Braman, who officially assumed her duties with ARH this week, most recently served as the Chief Medical Officer for the St. Peter's Hospital in Helena, Montana, a non–profit health care organization which includes a 120-bed acute care hospital, behavioral health unit, multispecialty clinic, urgent care facilities, Home Health and Hospice, and an outpatient cancer treatment facility. During her time at St. Peter’s, Dr. Braman was also responsible for the system’s quality and patient safety initiatives.
Dr. Braman’s office will be based at the ARH System Center in Hazard.

Dr. Braman brings vast experience to the position, having served as a Pathologist at St. Peter’s Hospital where she was the Chair of the Pathology Department, and Mountain West Pathology in Helena, MT, as well as serving as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Braman Labs, LLC, a molecular diagnostics laboratory specializing in women's health, and as medical director of St. Peter’s hospital and medical group laboratories.
Dr. Braman earned her medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, in Washington, DC. She did her Pathology Residency at Washington Hospital Center where she served as Chief Resident. She did additional Fellowship training in Breast Pathology at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. Currently, Dr. Braman is enrolled at Notre Dame University and is expected to receive her EMBA in May 2018.
