Mary Breckinridge ARH Expands Rehabilitation Department

Mary Breckinridge ARH Hospital is pleased to announce the expansion of its Physical Rehabilitation Department and relocation to the second floor of the hospital. The public is invited to an open house on August 20.

“At Mary Breckinridge ARH Rehabilitation, we have experienced tremendous growth in our outpatient and inpatient volumes,” said Eddie Sizemore, physical rehabilitation manager. “To better serve our patients, we have expanded the Rehabilitation Department to include three large gyms, additional private treatment rooms and a dedicated pediatric treatment area.”

According to Sizemore, the dedicated pediatric treatment area is designed to accommodate children with a variety of needs, which includes autism, sensory integration disorders and cerebral palsy. The large gyms are utilized for increasing overall strength, mobility and aerobic and cardiac function.  Large, private treatment rooms offer patients more comfort during assessments and therapy treatments.

“We also provide rehabilitation services to inpatients through the hospital’s Swing Bed Program,” said Sizemore. “Patients who have been hospitalized are often eligible for inpatient rehabilitation services.”

Sizemore explains the Swing Bed Program allows inpatients to receive daily occupational and physical therapy for multiple weeks after an injury, surgery, stroke, extended illness or any other medical problem that results in decreased strength and overall physical function.

The Mary Breckinridge ARH Rehabilitation Department offers outpatient appointments Monday through Friday, with some early and late afternoon appointments to accommodate all schedules.

“We are proud to share our Rehabilitation Department expansion with the community,” added Mallie S. Noble, Mary Breckinridge ARH Administrator. “Come meet our experienced rehabilitation staff who can explain our services and answer any questions you may have.”

The Mary Breckinridge ARH Rehabilitation Department open house is set for August 20   from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m.  Light refreshments will be served. For more information, call 606.672.1127.
