Tug Valley ARH to Host Third Annual Pretty in Pink Luncheon
It’s that time of year when ladies in the community “get their pink on” and celebrate life at the annual Pretty in Pink luncheon hosted by Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center. This year’s event is scheduled for noon on October 15.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Tug Valley ARH takes the lead by encouraging women who are 40 and over to have regular mammogram screenings. According to the American Cancer Society, in 2015, it is estimated that among U.S. women there will be 231,840 new cases of invasive breast cancer and 40,290 breast cancer deaths.
“For years now we have been raising awareness as to the importance of early detection of breast cancer,” said Tug Valley ARH Community CEO Tim Hatfield. “The Pretty in Pink luncheon continues to be a wonderful educational and social event!”
Hatfield will welcome the ladies to this year’s third annual Pretty in Pink luncheon and introduce guest speaker Becky Simpson, MSSW, East Kentucky Cancer Control Specialist with the Kentucky Cancer Program. Simpson will share information on the Horses & Hope Ambassador program that is coordinated with Mrs. Beshear. Also, she will encourage women to become an ambassador by encouraging other women to get their mammogram, especially if they are uninsured. Additionally, she will share data on breast cancer in Pike County and Big Sandy ADD.
Adult women of all ages are invited to attend the Pretty in Pink event. The luncheon will be held on the first floor of the hospital in the Administration Conference Room. There will be a drawing for a door prize after the program and a special gift for each attendee. Ladies, to reserve your lunch, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 606. 237.1711.
