APPLICATION INFORMATION
East Kentucky Rural Psychology Predoctoral Internship

ELIGIBILITY
Applications are welcomed from qualified doctoral students in Clinical or Counseling psychology programs, having completed a relevant educational curriculum and Master’s degree in psychology (required for state licensure at the Master’s level in Kentucky), practicum experience (minimum of 400 direct client contact hours), and who have endorsement of their clinical training director. All eligible applicants will be considered without regard to race, ethnic origin, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation or physical disability.

APPLICATION PROCESS
The East Kentucky Rural Psychology Predoctoral Internship Program accepts APPIC’s Universal Application Form (available in a variety of downloadable formats at: http://www.appic.org). Instructions for submitting the application and details about the application process are explained below.

Any offers extended to potential interns shall be in compliance with established APPIC standards (http://www.appic.org). POSITION OPENINGS, STIPENDS AND BENEFITS
Interns can expect to accrue 2,000 hours of supervised clinical experience during the training year (including a minimum 600 hours direct client contact) beginning in mid to late August and ending in August of the following year. Each of the available four (4) intern slots is allotted an annual stipend of $23,982. Additional fringe benefits include health-care insurance coverage (with options to add spouses/dependents at the intern’s expense), and holiday/vacation/sick leave. When traveling to distant work sites outside of Hazard, KY, interns receive mileage reimbursement both to/from their work destination, as regulated by agency policy.

Ö Official Transcripts of Graduate-Level Work (please include transcripts from the institution granting the Master’s degree in psychology, or an explanation of how this requirement will be met prior to the internship start date). Faxed transcripts are acceptable to expedite the application process, though original/official transcripts are ultimately required.
Ö Attachment that briefly addresses the following:

(a) interest in working with specific populations (rural, adult/child, etc)
(b)Personal characteristics facilitating or impeding your ability to adjust and/or work in a rural environment or clinical setting
