Hazard ARH Regional Medical Center can help your physician in making a diagnosis with our vast array of diagnostic imaging services.
- Outpatient Services are available Monday - Friday from 7:00 am - 5:00 pm.
- Positron Emission Tomography (PET) utilizes a new scanning technique that allows us, for the first time, to measure in detail the functioning of distinct areas of the human brain while the patient is comfortable, conscious and alert. We can study the chemical process involved in the working of the brain.
- CT Scanning uses a computerized tomographic (CT) scanner that is able to pass x-rays through the body from several different directions and constructs sectional images of body parts through computer analysis.
- MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is similar to CT Scanning but instead of utilizing x-rays, MRI uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to produce images of the head and body. It can be used to diagnostically study blood vessels, soft tissue and also bone.
- Mammography is the examination of the breast for diagnosis of disease or abnormality. The technologist are specially trained and nationally registered in Mammography.
- Nuclear Medicine utilizes radioactive isotopes, which emit certain rays that are traced and measured by the equipment. This facilitates the diagnosis of many conditions.
- Ultrasound utilizes equipment that uses sound waves to construct images of internal organs of the body and also fetal imaging. This helps your physician make a diagnosis and decide on the necessary treatment.
- Angiography assist in detecting heart and vascular disease. A special study that films the blood flow to internal organs.
- Angioplasty is a general term used to describe a procedure for treating blockages and/or blood clots.
- Echocardiography is a specialized ultrasound of the heart to evaluate blood flow through the valves, heart muscle size and contractility.
- Lithotripsy is a technology that allows the break up of stones inside the body (kidney, ureter and urinary bladder stones) using shockwaves. The stones are simply crushed into sand-like particles, which pass out, harmlessly, in the urine.
- Radiation Therapy is treatment with high-energy radiation from x-rays or other sources of radiation.
- Brachytherapy is a type of radiation therapy in which radioactive materials are placed in direct contact with the tissue being treated.
