McDowell ARH is a 25-bed, Critical Access Hospital, with
a 10-bed nursing facility, that enjoys a reputation of excellence as a patient-oriented
and community-centered hospital.
Our goal
McDowell ARH Hospital's goal is to render first-rate quality health services to the
sick or injured and promote health in our communities without regard to race, creed, sex,
color, national origin, or, to the extent feasible, the ability to pay.
Where are we?
McDowell is located in Floyd County, Kentucky, nestled in the Central Appalachian
Mountains. McDowell is located two-and-a-half hours from Lexington. Jenny Wiley State
Resort Park is minutes away in nearby Prestonsburg.

Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). McDowell ARH was selected as one of the nations' "Top 100 Hospitals" based on Solucient's 100 Top Hospitals Benchmark for Success study. This award recognizes hospitals across the country for achieving excellence in quality of care, efficiency of operations and sustainability of overall performance.
