2014 ARH CHAPLAINS RETREAT
HARLAN CENTER in HARLAN, KY
MAY 19-21, 2014

CONFLICT AND RECONCILIATION

Dear ARH Chaplains,

You and your spouse or guest are cordially invited to attend the 34th Annual ARH Chaplains Retreat to be held at The Harlan Center in Harlan, Kentucky on May 19, 20 and 21 2014 for three days of worship, instruction, and fellowship.

Our theme this year is, “CONFLICT AND RECONCILIATION”. Members of the ARH Leadership Team and special guests will serve as instructors. Their classes will address the legal, ethical and spiritual aspects of conflicts in which the chaplain is often involved, situations such as disagreement about end-of-life decisions between patients, staff, and /or family members. Francis Hardin-Fanning, PhD and Becky Peterson, RN, two of our popular instructors from previous retreats, will again offer classes.

On Monday afternoon, Mr. Joe Grossman, the President and CEO of Appalachian Regional Healthcare, will make a presentation about the state of ARH. Our Worship Leader will be Chaplain Gaylan Good and our Retreat Musician will be Mr. Robert Young. Local Harlan personnel are offering several class sessions for spouses.

Much awaits you in Harlan. This year the Retreat schedule is altered to accommodate some of your requests made in last year’s evaluation. “Coal !” is our theme for the Chaplain Appreciation Banquet Monday evening; come dressed in mining attire if you wish or bring some coal mining display items with you. Tuesday morning, the Harlan ARH Hospital staff will offer a Health Fair. On Tuesday evening, another exciting ARH Talent Show gets underway. Dress for the Retreat will be casual.

Providing this Retreat at no cost to you is one way in which ARH says, “Thank You!” for your services as a volunteer ARH Chaplain while at the same time providing you with resources that will enrich your ministry of pastoral care to ARH patients, their families and ARH staff.

Plan now to be a part of this educational and inspirational experience May 19-21, 2014 at the Harlan Center in Harlan, Kentucky. For more information Click Here.

Please review all the materials on this site, and complete the reservation forms prior to Wednesday, May 9. I hope to see you at the 34th Annual ARH Chaplains’ Retreat May 19, 20, & 22!

Sincerely,
