Our Pulmonary Function Laboratory is Located in the Daniel Boone Clinic Building and operates five days a week from the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We provide diagnostic evaluation, treatment, and care for people having problems associated with their lungs and breathing. The Pulmonary Function Laboratory offers a wide range of services including, but not limited to:
- Pulmonary Function Testing will help determine your lung condition, enabling us to develop an individualized plan of treatment.
- Vital Capacity measures the amount of air that is exhaled.
- Tidal Volume measures the amount of air exhaled during normal breathing.
- Static Lung Volumes
- Total Lung Capacity the volume of air contained in the lungs at the end of maximal inspiration.
- Residual Volume is the volume of air left in the lungs at the end of maximal expiration.
- Functional Residual Capacity is the volume of air remaining in the lungs at the end of a normal, quite expiration.
- Diffusion Capacity measures the ability of the lungs to diffuse oxygen.
- Arterial Blood Gases are performed by collecting a sample of blood from an artery. Blood gases measure the pH (acidity), oxygen content, and carbon dioxide content of the blood.
- EKG (Electrocardiogram) traces the electrical activity occurring in the heart.
- Holter Monitoring can painlessly monitor your heartbeat for 24 hours as you go about your daily business.
- Pulse Oximetry measures oxygen saturation in the blood.
