Our Cardiopulmonary Services Department provides diagnostic evaluation, treatment, and care for people having problems associated with their lungs and breathing.
Polysomnography is a comprehensive recording of the biophysiological changes, which occur during sleep. The test is usually performed at night during sleep. The test monitors many body functions including brainwaves, eye movements, muscle activity, heart activity, heart rate and breathing function during a night's sleep. Common conditions referred to the sleep lab are obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), central sleep apnea (CSA), insomnia, narcolepsy, parasomnias (sleep walking, sleep terrors, REM behavior disorder).
- Multiple Sleep Latency Testing (MSLT) is performed after the recording of a nighttime polysomnography test to evaluate the extent of a patient's daytime sleepiness or to make a definitive diagnosis of narcolepsy.
- Arterial Blood Gases are performed by collecting a sample of blood from an artery. Blood gases measure the pH (acidity), oxygen content, and carbon dioxide content of the blood.
- Pulse Oximetry measures oxygen saturation in the blood.
- Nebulizers help to keep the respiratory system functioning properly through the use of aerosols that distribute medication to the lungs.
- Ventilator Support assists and controls breathing when the patients breathing muscles have been compromised by disease, trauma or general anesthesia.
- CPAP/BiPAP assists patients breathing providing positive airway pressure for better oxygen exchange and ventilation.
- Vest / CPT/ Flutter Therapy methods used to assist patients with the clearance of secretions.
- Pediatric / Neonatal services include:
- Nebulizer Therapy
- CPT
- P/Ox Monitoring
- Oxygen Therapy/Aerosol Tent Therapy, Oxyhoods
- Nasal CPAP
- Ventilator Support
- Electroencephalography (EEG) - EEGs are performed to diagnose a various
number of neurological diseases ranging from, stroke patients, headaches,
seizures, dizziness, and many other forms of abnormal brain activity. These
exams are performed on patients ranging in age from birth - up.
- Echocardiography - Echoes provide diagnostic cardiac ultrasound, we offer
2-D, 3-D, and Transesophageal echoes. It allows cardiologist to see the
anatomy of the heart to evaluate the heart muscle and valves.
- Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) - PFTs are done to determine the
functionability of the lungs, it is used to diagnosis the severity of the
disease process in your lungs, as well as diagnose any new onset of
pulmonary disease.
