A Healing Team
Upon admission, patients are provided a physical examination to determine if their psychiatric symptoms are influenced by an underlying medical condition. While many medical conditions can be treated in the Senior Center, serious medical conditions need to be treated on a medical unit in the main hospital until the patient's condition is stable enough for return to the Senior Center.
Patients are seen daily by a psychiatrist and any necessary medical specialists while in the Senior Center. To meet the diverse needs of our patients, a multidisciplinary treatment team is assigned to each patient including: psychiatric nurses and aides, social workers, recreational therapist, and support staff. Other staff available as needed include: psychologist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, spiritual counselor, pharmacist, dietician, and respiratory therapist.
A comprehensive treatment plan and discharge plan is developed by the treatment team. The discharge plan will be communicated to the family and/or referral agency.
