When your doctor decides you are ready to return home, he or she will write a discharge order. The nursing staff will instruct you on caring for yourself at home and also advise you on the hospital’s check-out time. You, or a person you select, should visit the collections office to discuss any payment arrangements that need to be finalized.
If you require specialized care or equipment upon leaving the hospital, one of our discharge planning staff members will work with you and your physician to ensure that your needs are met. Home services, extended care placement or advice on the availability of medical equipment are just a few of the ways we can help. Discharge education will be provided and might include written or verbal instructions. Please ask questions and make sure you understand the educational and follow-up instructions provided.
