First Newborn of 2018 Arrives at Middlesboro ARH Hospital

Middlesboro ARH Hospital welcomed its first baby of the new year born on January 1, 2018.

At 6:19 p.m., Dr. John Williamson, board certified OB-GYN, delivered Edwin Allen Sinkhorn. He weighed 6 pounds and 4.8 ounces, and was 19 inches long. Parents are Marcus Sinkhorn and Ciera Webb.  The family resides in Pineville, Ky.

Excited after the birth of their son Edwin Allen, Ciera shared, “I want to thank Dr. Williamson and all the OB nurses for the great care we received. This was my first child, and even though I had a long labor, the nurses stayed with me and were simply wonderful!”

As the first baby born at Middlesboro ARH in 2018, the hospital gave Edwin and his family a large, baby bathtub full of items every baby needs including a baby monitor.

The Middlesboro Food City continues to join Middlesboro ARH in recognizing the first newborn of the year. Food City Manager Richard Smith gave Edwin and his parents a $100 gift card and a basket with several Food City Baby Club items.

Middlesboro ARH Hospital offers private labor-delivery-recovery rooms with private baths in a home-like atmosphere where the focus is on a family-centered birthing experience. Once the baby is born, the hospital offers rooming in for parents and baby to enhance newborn teaching with a newborn nursery nurse available and dedicated to this service 24 hours a day.  Middlesboro ARH also offers a comfortable nursery with a state-of-the-art security system.

“Location, comfort and hospitality supported by a team of highly experienced physicians and nurses are important when selecting an environment to give birth,” said Rhonda Hensley, OB Nurse
