March 25, 2024 – Amanda Fryman, Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) Grants Administrator, has been with ARH for over 24 years. She started with ARH in 1999 as a writer in the Communications/Public Relations department. Currently, she manages the system’s overall grant development and management program, which currently includes over $15 million in active grant funds. Along with these duties, she also leads volunteer management for the system.

During her time with ARH, she has also been instrumental in initiating the system’s efforts regarding its community health needs assessment process and management of community advisory boards.

Amanda’s favorite part of working for ARH and serving in this role is being able to do something where you can truly see the benefit to someone else.

“Being able to play a role in the betterment of Appalachia through the development of grant programs that directly impact the area and our neighbors is one of my favorite parts of my job,” says Fryman.

Whether it is through the development of a grant program that provides needed health education or screenings or by being able to obtain funding to buy needed medical equipment that could be used to help save someone’s life.

“Growing up in rural Kentucky myself, it is a blessing to work for an organization that focuses on helping people get the services and assistance that they need right in their own community,” Amanda shared regarding her experience with ARH.

Professionally, Amanda is a member of Grant Professionals Association and Kentucky Chapter of the Grant Professionals Association, the Kentucky Society for Directors of Volunteer Services and Society for Healthcare Volunteer Leaders, and the Advisory Council for Community and Economic Development Initiative of Kentucky.

“I come from a long line of strong, hard-working women in my family and being able to develop into a strong leader myself through ARH feels like I’m continuing that tradition,” said Fryman.

She continued, “Occasions such as Women’s History Month helps us to highlight the achievements of the women who have gone before us.
