Hazard, KY — The Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) Foundation for Healthier Communities is proud to sponsor local events in recognition of World Diabetes Day 2025, bringing educational opportunities, health screenings, and hands-on workshops to Eastern Kentucky. This year’s theme, “Nourish to Flourish: Food as Medicine for Diabetes Health,” emphasizes the power of nutrition in preventing and managing diabetes.
Two signature events will be hosted in November. On November 4th from 11 AM-1 PM and 5 PM-7 PM, participants can take part in the Hazard World Diabetes Day Wellness Workshops at the Perry County Extension Office. Pre-registration is required for both Hazard Events.
On November 12th, those in the Big Sandy area can attend the World Diabetes Day Lunch and Learn, along with a Health Fair at the Mountain Arts Center from 10 AM-2 PM.
Featured speakers include Jessica Flesh, RD (Nutrition by Jessica) and Marvin Rodriguez, Area Executive Chef at Sodexo Healthcare, who will highlight practical strategies for using food as medicine.
“Diabetes affects thousands of families across our region, and we want people to know they are not alone,” said Ashley Webb, RN, LDE, System Diabetes Education Coordinator for ARH. “Through education, screenings, and hands-on demonstrations, our goal is to empower individuals with the tools and resources to take control of their health.”
The ARH Foundation for Healthier Communities proudly supports these events as part of its mission to invest in the health and well-being of Eastern Kentucky and Southern West Virginia.
