SOUTH WILLIAMSON, Ky. – Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center surgeon Dr. Taha Mallick was named a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) during the recent ACS Clinical Congress 2025 in Chicago.
“I’m very proud and I’m honored to have become a fellow in such a prestigious organization,” he said of the ACS.
Fellowship applicants, according to the ACS, must meet an extensive list of criteria including the demonstration of ethical and professional proficiency.
The initiation process, Mallick explained, required each fellow to pledge to continue that proficiency as they move forward in their practices.
“It serves as a reminder that we owe our patients and colleagues professionalism and that we promise to provide the highest standard of care,” he said.
Mallick, who joined the staff at Tug Valley ARH in 2022, received his medical degree from the Arabian Gulf University College of Medicine and Medical Sciences in his native Kingdom of Bahrain.
Mallick, who performs a variety of general and minimally invasive procedures, said he has a passion for rural and acute care surgery.
“I enjoy having the ability to fix someone with my hands,” he said of the reason he became a surgeon. “The best part of the job is seeing a patient before and after an operation and getting to talk to them about how much better they feel.”
In addition to his FACS title, Mallick is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
