BECKLEY, W.Va. – Beckley ARH Hospital is proud to welcome general surgeon Said Alnajjar, MD to its family of providers.
“Dr. Alnajjar is not only a skilled surgeon, but he is dedicated to providing the highest level of patient care,” said Beckley ARH CEO Todd Howell. “We are excited for him to join us, and we have no doubt he will be an integral part of our efforts to improve the lives and health of the community we serve.”
Alnajjar received his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medicine in Qatar, completed his internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital and his residency at MedStar Health in Baltimore.
As a general surgeon, Alnajjar will perform a variety of procedures, but he said he is particularly interested in minimally invasive and robotic surgeries.
“Robotic surgery is much more precise than human hands, and it allows the patient to heal faster with less pain,” he said.
Alnajjar, a native of Jordan, said his decision to become a surgeon stemmed from his own experience when he was injured in a car accident as a teenager.
“I needed emergency surgery and the surgeon who cared for me really inspired me to follow in his footsteps,” he said. “I just saw how much difference a compassionate surgeon makes above just saving someone’s life, and I’ve wanted to be like him ever since.”
Alnajjar said he felt that same sense of commitment when he first met with his new colleagues at Beckley ARH.
“When I came for my interview, what really stood out for me was the how kind everyone was,” he said. “Everyone is very passionate about their work and committed to making the hospital a better place.
“I knew I wanted to be part of this team, and I just look forward to working alongside them and providing the best possible care for our patients.

Alnajjar is married to Dr. Ruba Salameh, who he said hopes to join him at Beckley ARH Hospital upon completion of her internal medicine residency program.
In his free time, he enjoys hiking, playing tennis, soccer, skiing, visiting National Parks and spending time with his cat, Monty.
