BECKLEY, W.Va. – Morgan Martin, director of risk and compliance for Beckley ARH Hospital, was recently named to the board of the West Virginia Society for Healthcare Risk Management (WVSHRM).
She said the board appointment will not only allow her to better serve Beckley ARH but will also provide her with the opportunity to participate in the decision-making process that can help hospitals throughout the state.
“I feel like there is so much we can do to help improve the safety of our hospitals,” she said. “The most effective way to do that is to get involved and be the change where you want to see the change.
“I’m excited for this opportunity,” she continued, “and I’m looking forward to learning and growing within healthcare risk management.”
The Beckley native began her career as a staff nurse at Beckley ARH in 2015. Prior to accepting the risk manager position, she worked in the ICU, served as the clinical nurse manager for the progressive care unit, and held the title of sepsis stroke coordinator.
She received her associate degree in nursing from Bluefield State University, her bachelor’s degree in nursing from WVU and her master’s degree in nursing from Walden University.
Martin, who received certification in professional health risk management from the American Hospital Association in 2023, is a graduate of the ARH Leadership Academy and is a current member of the West Virginia Hospital Leadership Academy.
She and her husband Corey reside in Beckley with their children Justin, 8, Reygan, 5, and huskies Koda and Jethro.
