June 29, 2023  –Danny Harris, Chief Financial Officer for Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH), has announced that he will retire at the end of July.

Harris has served as Chief Financial Officer for ARH since February 2013, but his career in finance spans more than four decades.

Before joining ARH, Harris was the Vice President of Finance and CFO at Pikeville Medical Center. He also served as Chief Financial Officer at Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, Ky., and Assistant Vice President of Finance and Controller, CFO at Pikeville Methodist Hospital.

“Danny has been an extraordinary CFO for ARH and has played a significant part in our system’s financial strength and growth into the largest health system in Eastern Kentucky over the past decade,” said ARH President and CEO Hollie Phillips. “We thank him for his service to our system and the people we serve in Eastern Kentucky and Southern West Virginia. We wish him all the best as he enters this new chapter in his life.”

Byron Gabbard, who joined ARH in 2021 as Executive Vice President of Financial Operations and has worked closely with Harris, will serve as Interim CFO as a search is conducted for a new CFO for the system.
